MERCED, CA- The family of Ishmael Escalante, who was gunned down Dec. 7 of last year outside the now vacant La Hacienda I, donated 200 “Survival Bags” to four different Merced County law enforcement agencies.

" The good work police officers do many times goes unnoticed" said Ishmael's aunt, Deanna Escalante said. "They've been good to us and a lot of other families."

Being witnesses of our local officers hard work and dedication has inspired gratitude in the Escalante family and friend and other community residents.

Deanna wrote, “we want to thank the citizens of Merced, Los Banos and Dos Palos for donating items for the bags and making this even possible. We would also like to thank all the businesses who pitched in; Tinetti Realty Group, Yum Yum Donuts, Dos Palos Donuts and Pizza Factory Dos Palos. We appreciate your support and look forward to partnering up with everyone again next year. This is a small way to show our appreciation for everything Law Enforcement Officers do. Please know your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you!”
