NEW INFORMATIONAL SERVICE AVAILABLE IN MERCED COUNTY

entrepreneur-962848_1280MERCED – Merced County and United Way have teamed up to provide residents with a new information and referral service known as Mountain Valley 211.

The service aims to connect residents of Merced and Mariposa counties with hundreds of social programs and non-profit services in their communities. All that residents need to do to access this information is simply dial the easy-to-remember 2-1-1 phone number from their land lines or cell phones. This service is free and confidential.

Trained specialists are available to help address the needs of callers and connect them with local agencies and organizations that can meet those needs. This 24/7 service is available in more than 150 languages.

Users can also access a comprehensive list of available resources through the Mountain Valley 211 website: www.MountainValley211.org.

This program will also address the unmet needs of users by collecting information from callers and visitors to the website. This data will make it possible to provide improved services in the future.download (1)

Mountain Valley 211 has additionally coordinated with the Merced County Office of Emergency Services to provide support to the community during natural disasters and local emergencies by providing critical information such as evacuation routes, road closures, shelters, relief aid and other general safety directives.

To access information through this service, residents can either dial 2-1-1 or find the link on the front page of the Merced County website.
